“Jesus has the last word on everything and everyone, from angels to armies. He’s standing right alongside God and what he says goes.” 1 Peter 3:22
I absolutely love 1 Peter 3:22, I mean, HOW COOL is it that Jesus has the last word on EVERYTHING (yes, that includes your job, your desire to be married, your family, your dreams and aspirations – EVERYTHING) and EVERYONE (that includes you, me and yes, it even includes the enemy)!!
Jesus has and will forever have the last word in our lives. This truth continues to be the lifter of my head when unfortunate news comes my way. So when “news” comes (and it will), hear it, see it, process it, but be quick to declare this truth and when you do, strength will RUSH into your mind, body and spirit.
You see, because Jesus has the last word, we know how things will end. Jesus is the kindest, most faithful, loving, and patient person you will ever know, and His last word will alway line up with WHO He is. Jesus cannot do anything but lead us to victory, for He is Victory Himself. So hang in there precious one, and no matter what “news” comes your way today, remember Jesus has the last word over your life. Selah (pause and think about that for a moment).
Recently, I had the honor of joining Rick & Dan again on Faith Talk Live and here is a small snippet of my time with them. Please push play and I pray that it encourages you:
Walking WITH God in 2018,

Listen, O’ daughter, consider and give ear: Forget your people and your father’s house. The King (God) is enthralled by your beauty; Honor Him for He is your Lord.” Psalm 45:10-11, NIV
Why is it that we dwell on the negative things said about us more than the positive? Maybe this is not a struggle for you, but I think most of us tend to FORGET the uplifting words spoken over us and meditate on the destructive ones. BUT NOT ANYMORE! God clearly states above that we are to FORGET what people and even our own family may have said about us! God declares that He is enthralled with your beauty and that we honor Him by choosing to think and meditate on what He says about us.
We give “honor” to people by allowing their opinion of us to influence the way we feel about ourselves. The problem is that we often “honor” the wrong people. What would your life be like if you only thought about what God says about you? (Selah – pause and think about that).
Today God gives you something better than roses or candy – He gives you His love and attention. Let’s answer, “yes” to God’s invitation to “Be Mine” this Valentines Day. Choose to honor God by meditating on the fact that He is enthralled with your beauty and deeply in love with you!
Prayer:
“Lord, forgive me for honoring the wrong people in my life. I choose to honor You by meditating on what You say about me. I desire to give You my heart today. I will “be Yours” forever. I ask that you remove from my memory hurtful words spoken over me. I believe that You are enthralled with my beauty today. Thank you for being the best valentine any woman could ever have.” Amen.

“We throw open our doors to God and discover at the same moment that he has already thrown open his door to us. We find ourselves standing where we always hoped we might stand—out in the wide open spaces of God’s grace and glory, standing tall and shouting our praise.” Romans 5:1-2, The Message
For years I feared that if I surrendered my life to God, He would call me to live in a tent in a tropical forest, marry a man that I was not attracted to and birth twenty plus children – all of which are not wrong by any means – but I had no desire for any of these things. The problem was that I did not know the character of God at that time. I believed the lie that if I gave my life over to God that He would ask me to do things that I was not equipped for nor would I like, but this could not be farther from the truth!
You see, when I threw open the doors of my heart to God, I discovered that God had already thrown open His doors of grace to me as the scripture above states. God had been patiently, lovingly, waiting for me to give up and to let Him have control. Sweet surrender. I recognize that It is God who blessed me with a wonderful, good-looking husband. It is God who blessed me to be a mother and it was God who knew that I was not called to live in the jungle, but instead He gifted me to help His people through Counseling. Many marvel that I enjoy being a Counselor, but it was God who put this desire within my heart and I experience great joy when I Counsel.
Before Christ, I struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, low self-esteem, rejection, worthlessness, and more. Yet, when I came to the end of myself and cried out to God, He filled me with His life, joy and peace. Over time I began to see who God really was – a loving, giving, compassionate Father who placed talents and abilities within me to glorify Him. I cannot boast of anything in my life, for it is God and God alone who blesses me.
Now, there are circumstances in each of our lives that we would never willingly choose to go through, but with God we can be confident that He will lead us to victory in every place . We can stand firm that God will work all things out for His good when we are called according to His purpose. God does not waste anything. He will not waste our pain, trials, talents, abilities, desires or anything in life.
I want to encourage you to surrender everything to God today. It is only through surrender that we can find peace and joy. I pray you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and may we both experience sweet surrender this season!
Prayer: ”Lord, I give my life and I declare that You are good and gracious and will lead me to wide open spaces as I surrender to You. You have amazing plans for my life and I no longer want to keep You at arms length. I want to fully surrender to Your will and not my own. You have placed desires and abilities within me for Your purposes and I long to fulfill my destiny on earth. May Your will be done. Amen.”

“A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy habitation. God sets the solitary in families; He brings out those who are bound into prosperity; but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” – Psalm 68:5-6
I grew up feeling as if I never fit in. Probably because my parents divorced before I was one year old. I had a half-brother here and a half-sister there. A step-mother in one home and a step-father in the other home. I moved from this state to that state. Attended four different elementary schools and three high schools. With that kind of a track record, I think it would be hard for anyone to feel as if they had a “place to call home”. During my college years I remember a woman praying over me and stating, “You have felt like a misfit all your life – with your mom you didn’t fit in, with your father you didn’t fit in, but you fit into God’s plans.”She went on to declare an awesome future for me in Christ. I left her presence with my head a little higher. I began meditating on what she said, “I fit in to God’s Plans” and that thought revolutionized my life!
So I declare over you today – You fit into God’s plans! Do not worry about your past, present, or future. God has good plans for your life. What the enemy used in your past to destroy you, God will turn it around and use it to propel you forward into your destiny! No weapon formed against you shall prosper. Every idle word spoken against you, the Lord will condemn! You are His precious child and He is your Father and Defender!
God even shows us in the above scripture that He sets the solitude in families for His purpose. While it was hard growing up feelinglike the “misfit,” I am now thankful because Jesus became my ALL THAT! Does anyone know what I’m talking about? When people fail you, when you don’t have enough money to pay your bills, when sickness affects your body, when your husband leaves you, when your best friend betrays you, when your own family rejects you – JESUS BECOMES YOUR ALL THAT! If you haven’t been through difficult times, then you won’t understand, but if you have, then I trust Jesus has become your ALL THAT!
Prayer:
“Lord, I am grateful to have an awesome future in You. You have great plans for my life. Thank you for allowing me to be the one who didn’t fit in to everyone else’s plans, because through it You became my ALL THAT! Lord, restore double what the enemy has stolen in my life. I come out of agreement that I am a misfit and declare that I fit into God’s plans and I will fulfill my destiny in Christ.” Amen.

“For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.” 1 John 3:20-21
In the past, I allowed my feelings to rule my life. I could be happy one minute and in tears the next. My emotions were completely dependent on varying circumstances around me and no matter what my loved ones told me, I would treat my feelings as the truth! Has anyone else been there besides me? If your days are currently filled with confusion, worry and chaos then maybe your feelings are ruling your life at this time? But I have good news for you today! You don’t have to live your life dependent on how you feel because God’s Word is the final authority in your life. As daughters of the King, our feelings must submit to the Word of God and what He says about our situation. We do not have to live our lives riding an emotional roller coaster. We can have the peace that passes all understanding as we trust in God and His Word (Philippians 4:6-7).
I will never forget the day that I found 1 John 3:20-21 in my Bible. This scripture became my daily meditation and after researching the word “heart” in the Strong’s Concordance, I found that the word “heart” in our scripture today means “emotions and thoughts.” So, let’s read the verse again, but this time I will replace the word “heart” with it’s Greek meaning, “emotions and thoughts:
“For if our emotions and thoughts condemn us, God is greater than ouremotions and thoughts and knows all things. Beloved, if our emotions and thoughts do not condemn us, we then have confidence toward God.”
Isn’t this good news? The truth is, when our emotions and thoughts contradict the Word of God – we have a choice to make: Are we going to believe our emotions and thoughts or the Word of God? For years I lived my life in double-mindedness. I would read the Bible, but then allow my emotions to rob my faith in God! But not anymore!
So I have 2 questions for you:
1. Will you choose to believe the Word of God no matter what is going on around you in the natural world?
2. What will be the final authority in your life – your feelings or God’s Word?
Now that you have found 1 John 3:20-21, you also have a choice to make. It may seem hard to believe right now, but you too can begin to declare and believe that God is greater than your thoughts and emotions and that He knows all things. And even when your feelings tell you something different, you can choose to hold onto God’s Word as truth in your life and experience supernatural peace. You and I can both live in God’s peace daily and our feelings no longer have to dictate our lives. Now that is something to shout about…Yeah!
Prayer:
“Lord, I choose to believe Your Word no matter what is going on around me. I declare that according to 1 John 3:20-21, You are greater than my emotions and thoughts and that You know all things. I will no longer allow my emotions to rule my life. You have good plans for me – with a future and a hope. I will worship You alone. Thank you for peace that passes understanding. I love you Jesus and I know that my best days are ahead of me because You love me. Amen.”

“All the days of the afflicted are evil, but he who is of a merry heart has a continual feast.” Proverbs 15:15
As our days of summer are heating up, it is important that we take the these next few months to simply have fun in the Son! God wants us to laugh & enjoy our loved ones as never before! Proverbs 17:22 states that laughter is like medicine for our soul, but did you know that it also reduces pain and allows us to tolerate discomfort? Laughter reduces blood sugar levels, increasing glucose tolerance in diabetics and non-diabetics alike. Laughter can improve our job performance (as a business woman or stay-at-home mom), especially if our work involves creativity or solving complex problems. Laughter also plays a vital role in all our relationships, especially in marriage.
Bottom Line: Laughter is underestimated!
Tip #1: Set aside time for fun.
Vacations are great, but don’t wait to enjoy your family and friends until then! A colleague of mine did this and a few days before his family ski trip, he broke his leg! Ugh! It is important to make time for fun in your everyday, ordinary life. Host a game night at your home or invite your loved ones over for a dessert night – the key here is to enjoy your family and friends!
Tip #2: Do Something Out of the Ordinary.
Do something unpredictable! All of us tend to be creatures of habit, but I want to encourage you today to break out of the mundane and do something extraordinary! For example, take a day off and go somewhere you have always wanted to go! Take a trip to the zoo, buy a new pair of shoes and strut your stuff or rent a stack of DVD’s and declare a “national pajama day” in your honor! (P.S. – Don’t forget to laugh:)
Tip #3: Find one thing to laugh about each day.
Laughter releases stress and tension in our body and when we laugh, we feel refreshed! It is important to laugh at yourself and at life when possible, especially when difficulties come our way. Whether you find a joke online to giggle about or apply one of the tips from above – it is my prayer that you will allow laughter and fun to change the atmosphere in your home and life!
Prayer:
“Lord, thank you for the gift of laughter. Psalm 16 tells us that in Your Presence is the fullness of Joy and at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Please fill me with Your Presence and help me to set aside time for fun and do something extraordinary today that will make me and others laugh! Amen.”
