THIS WEEK’S VERSE:

“My beloved friend, I pray that everything is going well for you, and that your body is as healthy as your soul is prosperous.” (3 John 1:2)

(If you haven’t listened to Part 1, click here!)

A Message from Monica:

Whoops. We were so excited to continue our talk with Tracy about physical health that we didn’t discuss a verse at the top of the show. But I (Monica) found the above verse in The Voice translation the other day, and it’s as if it leapt off the page and took root deep into my heart.

At the core of these two weeks on Be Healthy is this verse, you know? We want our souls and bodies to be healthy and prosperous! Because at the end of the day, we aren’t going to be able to DO all that God has called us to do (and face it, all that we have to do in a day), if our bodies are operating at 50% and we feel run down, sluggish and consistently down.

We have to BE healthy before we can DO what God has ordained for us to do.

So confession time:

I haven’t been healthy lately. My soul and my heart and emotions have been pretty healthy (relatively speaking…there’s always room to grow). But my body — my physical health — is pitiful. The past few months in particular, I’ve felt run down, lethargic, on-edge, headachy and generally feeling like I’m in a fog.

I hate feeling tired after just going up the stairs in my house, you know?

The frustrating part was that I’ve been exercising regularly and watching my food intake. However, I just realized I was watching the calories of the food I was eating, but not the food itself.

Don’t laugh — but I will always sacrifice real food calories for Cheez-Its calories.

Always.

And Cheez-Its calories — while delicious and satisfying in the moment — are not enough to fuel my body.

I’ve listened to this unpublished podcast episode no less than four times in the past two weeks, because I need help here. And I kept remembering what I said in the podcast about Michael Hyatt and his discipline in regards to physical health. And then I came across that verse from 3 John,

“…and that your body is as healthy as your soul is prosperous.”

And suddenly, one night last week, I had enough. I’m not even kidding — I went to bed determined to make a change, and on Tuesday morning at 5:30 am I made one. And for the past six whole days in a row, I’ve cut out most sugar and processed food. Because my body (at FORTY) operates best on a clean diet.

(I’m not saying this is what everyone should do — I’m not a nutritionist or expert whatsoever.)

(And I haven’t throw out the Cheez-Its yet.)

(The kids…you know.)

I say it to commiserate with you that we are all struggling to be healthy!

Just because discuss a particular topic on the podcast, it doesn’t mean we’ve learned it and mastered it. It’s always a process. And someone might be doing awesome when it comes to physical health, but struggling emotionally. Or kicking butt with spiritual health, but fighting with mental health.

We are all in the same race, running toward the same goal. Let’s just be real about it and cheer each other on, you know? (tweet that)

So Tracy shared some incredible insights with us this week about how our physical health can be affected by our emotions…and how our emotions can be affected by our physical health. There is such great content in this podcast — you have to make time to listen!

Here are a few highlights:

  1. What we think impacts how we feel, and how we feel impacts our body.
  2. Our bodies will tell us when something is wrong! Stomach pain, headaches, etc. may be symptoms of emotional issues that need to be addressed.
  3. When your body is speaking to you through back pain, headaches, stomach pain, etc…it’s God’s way of telling you to slow down and BE.
  4. Medication helps our bodies feel better, but our emotional health might not be where it needs to be if we don’t process our emotions and change our mind and the way we think.
  5. Even in the Bible, God brought health in mind, body and soul to many people (example: Elijah).
  6. God wants you to be whole — mind, body and soul.
  7. Women need more sleep than men, like 7-8 hours! (Tracy said it so it’s true.)
  8. We need to be able to recognize when to say no, so that we can nourish our bodies and our souls.
  9. Our bodies need to operate at full capacity so that we can fulfill the destinies God has for us!
  10. 30 minutes of physical exercise a day can have the same effect on your body as taking a low-dose antidepressant.

Isn’t that all so rich?? You have to give yourself 30 minutes to listen to it if you haven’t yet. I promise, you’ll be so much healthier for it!

All For His Glory

To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion–to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive] of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit–that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.

Isaiah 61:3, AMP

In Isaiah 61:3 a great exchange occurs. God gives us His beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of morning, the garment of praise instead of a heavy, burdened and failing spirit. Friend, I don’t know what you have been through in your life, but I do know that Jesus gave His life for you on the Cross. He exchanged your sin, sickness, and every curse and nailed it to the Cross in exchange for His mercy, healing, grace and salvation. One day while reading Isaiah 61, I was led to write down all that God had exchanged in my life and I pray that it will bring encouragement to you today.

I know what it’s like:

To be abused, but I also know what it’s like to forgive my abuser and to be set free

To have thoughts of killing myself, but I also know what it’s like to carry the life of my daughter inside my womb.

To be full of fear to the point of rocking back and forth with my Bible in hand just to make it through the night, but I also know what its like to see God’s angels moving on my behalf.

To feel alone in this world, but I also know what it’s like to have the honor of Jesus being my EVERYTHING

To live in depression and despair, but I also know what it’s like to be pulled out of the pit for God’s glory.

To worry to the point of almost losing my mind, but I also know what it’s like to be renewed in my mind through God’s Word.

To barely get out of bed, but I also know what it’s like to experience God’s joy that comes in the morning.

To wonder if my dreams will ever come to pass, but I also know what it’s like to have faith that God never withholds anything good for me but He only sets me up to be blessed.

To be diagnosed with liver-failure and need a liver transplant, but I also know what its like to have Jesus miraculously heal me.

To only have oatmeal in my pantry to eat for dinner, but I also know what it’s like to see God provide all of my needs through the body of Christ.

To run for my life to an abuse shelter, but I also know what it’s like to have God make purpose out of my pain and know that my best days are ahead of me.

To be told that I am stupid and invaluable, but I also know what to read in the Bible that Jesus died on the Cross-for me and that I am the apple of His eye.

My question for you today is: What do you need to exchange?

It is my prayer that we will embrace the Great Exchange this Easter Season.

Easter Blessings,

Tracy

Knowing Your Authority

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory
of God the Father. – Philippians 2:9-11

We serve an awesome God and please know that whatever comes your way, when you call on the Name of Jesus, every knee must bow and every tongue must confess that He is Lord.  The article below is a glimpse of some women who knew their authority in Christ.  And may we also be the kind of woman that when our feet hit the floor each morning the devils shouts, “Oh no!  She’s up!”    Be encouraged today.  Keep calm and walk with Jesus each day.

Florida women frighten off intruder by chanting ‘Jesus’

By Eric Pfeiffer, Yahoo! News

At first, those gathered at Hagler’s house for a jewelry party thought the intruder was simply part of an elaborate gag, using a “water gun” to tease the Florida women.

“It’s only a water gun,” one attendee reportedly said, while brushing away the firearm allegedly brandished by Derick Lee, who entered the home wearing a ski mask and bandana across his face.

Witnesses say Lee then held the gun to the woman’s head and announced, “I’m not joking, I’m going to shoot someone, give me your money.” He even showed the women some of the bullets loaded into his gun before they could be convinced the robbery attempt was real.

But what Lee didn’t know was that he was outgunned by the jewelry party attendees – at least spiritually speaking.

“When I realized what was going on, I stood up and said, ‘In the name of Jesus, get out of my house now,’” Hagler told WJXT-TV. And he said, ‘I’m going to shoot someone.’ And I said it again, real boldly,” Hagler continued. “Everybody started chanting, ‘Jesus, Jesus, Jesus,’ and he did a quick scan of the room, and ran out the door as fast as he could go.”

Lee, 24, was arrested Friday night at his home and identified by several of the jewelry party attendees during a police photo lineup. He’s currently being held on a $200,000 bond.

I believe he saw angels,” Hagler said in a separate interview with the Christian Post. “I think he saw who was on our side, and he just turned around. The look on his face was just, like, astonishment. He was totally captivated by whatever he saw. He just turned around and ran out the door.”

We win!

HappyFitWomanPhoto“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in TRIUMPH IN CHRIST, and through us manifests the fragrance of His knowledge in EVERY PLACE. For we are to God the fragrance of Christ among those who are being saved and among who are perishing.” 2 Corinthians 2:14-15

Are there days when you “feel” totally defeated? And are there times when your circumstances sometimes pile on top of you to the point that you can barely breathe? Well, no matter what you are facing – God will lead you to triumph in Christ!

Let me encourage you today:

Do not give up. Do not lose sight of who you are and to whom you belong. You are the righteousness of God. You are His beloved child. You are an over-comer in Christ Jesus.  No weapon formed against you can prosper. Every idle and dishonest word that is spoken against you, God will condemn. You are the apple of God’s eye. He formed you in your mother’s womb. You are not forgotten and never forsaken. You are above and not beneath. You are the head and not the tail. The blessings of the Lord will chase you and overtake you. What the enemy meant for evil, God will turn it around and use it for your good. Our God is willing and able. He is your healer. He is your Abba Father. He is your provider. He is your vindicator. He is mercy. He is grace. He is love. He is EVERYTHING you need!

What is that “place” you need victory in today? If you allow Him, Christ will lead you to triumph in that very place. And as you walk out this victory, God’s fragrance will manifest around you. Whether you realize it or not – People watch you and they know something is different about you.  They notice the smile on your face even through you are walking through the greatest trial of your life. They see a peace resting over you that no words can describe. And according to the scripture above – they will also see you TRIUMPH in EVERY PLACE!

Smith Wigglesworth (one of my faith heroes) said it well: “Great faith is the product of great fights.  Great testimonies are the outcome of great tests.  Great triumphs come only out of great trials.  Every stumbling block must become a stepping stone.  And every opposition must become an opportunity.”

Prayer:

“Lord, You lead me in triumph in every place of my life. You will not leave me in the valley of the shadow of death. You send your rod and staff to comfort me and you will pull me out of the pit of destruction. Many will see my life and give praise to Your Name. You are Jesus. Your Name is above every name. This situation that I am walking through must bow its knee at your Word. I declare triumph. I declare Your fragrance be manifest in my life. Thank You for your love and mercy. I worship You Jesus. You are everything I need.” Amen.

Seeing Things From God’s Perspective

“And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots.  And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”  So he (Elisha) answered, “Do not fear for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”  And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”  Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw.  And behold the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”  2 Kings 6:16-17

Let’s just imagine that one morning you wake up only to see your greatest enemy and his army ready to take you down. What would you do?  How would you respond?  Most of us would do exactly as Elisha’s servant did above – respond in sheer panic and run to someone, anyone, who could help us.  We would probably also scream out, “ What should we do?” Our eyes would be so overwhelmed with the fact that this enemy army is just outside our door and ready to strike that fear would more than likely paralyze us.

Ok, maybe your home is not literally surrounded by an enemy but I bet there is something the devil is surrounding you with fear – maybe its your health, your finances or your children’s future – and you maybe asking today “what should I do?”

Elisha’s response to “what should we do?” in 2 Kings 6:16-17 was in faith.   Faith requires seeing into another dimension – the invisible. Fear paralyzes us, but faith propels us to see things from God’s perspective. Notice that Elisha did not ask God to simply show his servant another miracle; he asked for his servant to see another dimension.  Elisha prayed.  God revealed. The Lord opened the eyes of the young man and he saw horses and chariots of fire all around him.

Seeing into the invisible is a key to victorious praying – discerning spiritual issues from God’s perspective rather than man’s. Instead of focusing on the the enemy’s intentions, it’s time that we focus on God’s angelic strike-force! I am praying for you right now, “Lord, open her eyes that she may see.”  May God show you His perspective and may you see that there are more for you than against you.  And remember that you fight FROM victory not FOR victory.

Prayer: “Lord, open my eyes to see You in every situation.  I will no longer allow fear to paralyze me but allow faith in Who You are propel me forward.  While fear causes me to pull back – faith pushes me forward into Your plans for my life. Your plans are always to prosper me and to do me good in the end.  I may feel as if I am surrounded by the enemy today, but I declare that if You are for me, who can be against me.  Open the eyes of my heart that I may see You.  Send Your angels concerning me today.  May You go before me today and make every crooked place straight.  Amen.”
